Rabanadas

Rabanadas are a very typical Christmas dish in the Portuguese culture.
INGREDIENTS:
• 800 ml of milk
• 100 g of sugar
• 1 lemon peel
• 1 cinnamon stick
• 8 thick slices of baguette bread
• 3 eggs
• 500 ml of oil for frying
• 2 tablespoons of sugar (for sprinkling)
• cinnamon (for sprinkling)
PREPARATION:
- Heat the milk with 100 g of sugar, the lemon peel and the cinnamon stick, without boiling. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Soak the slices of bread in warm milk. Reserve.
- Wrap each slice of bread in the previously beaten egg as you fry the bread.
- Fry in abundant hot oil, on both sides, until the slices get golden.
- Drain on absorbent paper. Reserve.
- Sprinkle the sugar and the cinnamon on top of the Rabanadas.
- Eat it and enjoy! ?
